My father is having trouble using the toggle keys on the playstation 2 joypad for recent tomb raider games ?

is there a way i could help him either get a diffrent joypad or does he just have to deal wiv it please help wiv it in near to xmas i cld get him sumthing that wld help him for xmas :) thanks
