"Identity" is your sense of who you are, where you came from, where you belong. It is the result of a secure feeling of belonging in a place, a family, a culture, a country, even a profession, and of a clear sense of your own attitudes, tastes and preferences, likes and dislikes, and worldview vis-a-vis others, things that can be shaped by family and cultural experience.
