My girlfriend wants space and wont text me back. i need advice!?

ok, so my girlfriend and i have been dating for almost 4 months now. We've had a great relationship up until this last month. Things started to seem different with her. For example, when we would hang out she would start ignoring me a little and not want me to do things like putting my arm around her as much. I also started noticing that she wouldnt reply to my texts as much. After a good 2 or 3 weeks of me occasionally asking her what was wrong she finally let it all out. She told me that shes a "free spirit" (which i know) and that she feels like im smuggling her by wanting to text constantly and allways wanting to be close to her. She also said that she doesnt want to break up and she still likes me, she just wants space. I understand where shes coming from and im totally cool with giving her space, but everytime i ask her how much, or what i am doing that i should stop she just says something like "idk" or "sure" and doesnt seem to want to talk about it. she does this almost everytime i want to talk about something serious which makes it really hard to communicate. what should i do? just wait for her to contact me for awhile? i kinda feel like if i just stop trying to contact her she wont put any effort into contacting me
